Get inspired for spring each year at this outdoor garden tour!

Take a self-guided tour of five or six private backyards, chosen for their creative landscapes, artistic flair, and handmade attributes. Tickets are a $10 donation to Casa Grande Art Association.

Thank you to all the creative homeowners for lending their yards to us for a day! We couldn't have this event without their generosity.

Do you have a Yartsy yard?

Is your yard interesing and unlike other yards? Is it unique and creative and contains one or more handbuilt, handlaid, or handmade items (by you or anyone)? Are you willing to share your yard with others for a day to help support the arts? If so, you might have a "Yartsy Yard!" Please contact us and we will come take a peek and let you know if it is what we are looking for.

30+ volunteers are needed November each year to allow the event to take place. We need ticket takers, yard aids, and cashiers on the day of the event. One does not need to be a CGAA member to volunteer. Each shift is 3 hours (9-12 or 12-3). These volunteers get a free ticket to tour the yards the rest of the day. We also like to have people in yards creating also - whether it is sketching or playing music.

Volunteer options:

Ticket takers (One 3-hour shift): Sit at a small table in a shady spot in the frontyard near the gate. You will greet people and they will show you their ticket as they go in.

Yard aides (One 3-hour shift): Help the homeowner in any way needed. Help greet people and cover for the homeowner if he/she wants to go inside for a break. We don't expect you to know anything about the yard! If there is a question, lead the inquirer to the homeowner to ask.

Cashiers (CGAA members only) (One 2-hour shift): Be seated outdoors at a table with your choice of either taking cash only, OR using Square to take credit cards using your phone (we'll help you get it set up).

Creative opportunities - Set your own hours! We are looking for people of any age to use their interests and talents to add to the creative ambience of the event. This includes amateur or professional musicians of any kind (instrument, vocal...), artists creating with any medium of their choice (drawing, painting, weaving, sidewalk chalk ...), and possibly other creative acts (dancing...). Creative volunteers are welcome to promote their related businesses at the time (business cards, fliers...) (optional).

Ticket takers, Yard aides, and Cashiers get free admission during their "off" hours.

Past Yartsys:

2021 Yartsy: 172 visitors

2020 Yartsy: Canceled due to Covid 19

2019 Yartsy: 290 visitors

2019: We couldn't have done it without the six homeowners who graciously welcomed people into their yards, the many people who donated their time that day, and all the members of the community who attended!

Patrons saw unique landscapes, cactus gardens, handmade furniture, colorfully-painted exterior walls, a patio floor made from wine bottles, several sculptures, exterior wall art, colorful wall tiles, a secret retreat filled with succulents and so much more.

All donations from YARTSY 2019 went to Casa Grande Art Museum so that Casa Grande Art Association could continue its large volunteer project of revitalizing their grounds and exterior. Donations contributed to the many projects in progress, including the removal of the old gravel in the yard and adding new, painting the building, helping with the iron and glass fence, purchasing a new A/C and creating several outdoor mosaic benches and walls. Thank you to the community for all of your $10 donations!
