NOVEMBER 2 from 5 to 7 – Show Opening


Dear Artist,

It’s that time of year again.  The Casa Grande Art Museum is excited to announce its Fourth Annual SURRENDER Art Show.  You will recall from last year this is a show of artwork requiring a collaborative effort between you and another artist.  The show will be held at the Casa Grande Art Museum located at 319 W 3d Street, Casa Grande, AZ 85122.


The whole process begins at the Museum on Wednesday, October 10th at 5PM.  We encourage  you to participate in the show by bringing with you a partially completed piece of your original artwork that you are willing to surrender to a random partner, who will take it home, complete it, and prepare it for the final showing.  Two dimensional art must be on a surface that will accept drawing, paint, pastel, collage, etc. and when completed by artist #2, must be able to be hung on the wall using D rings and braided wire.  Art must be appropriately framed or completed on gallery wrapped canvas.  Three dimensional art such as pottery, jewelry, sculpture, etc. must also be readily displayable.  For those wishing to turn their artwork in early you may do so by bringing it to the CGAA meeting on Monday October 8th.

Completed two dimensional works will be no larger than 20” x 24” framed, and three dimensional works no larger than 12” x 12” x 24” and must be returned to the Art Museum on Tuesday, October 30th at 5PM.


Upon surrendering your artwork on October 8th or 10th, the piece becomes the property of your partner (the 2d artist).  The work you receive and complete becomes yours.  It is the intention that you offer these pieces for sale at the advertised show and sale opening Friday, November 2nd.   The Casa Grande Art Museum will take a 20% commission and the remainder will belong to the artist completing the piece.

This year’s show will open on Friday, November 2nd and run through Saturday, November 24th.  Members of the Casa Grande Friends of the Arts, the artists, and the public will be invited to the opening wine and hors d’oeuvres party on Friday, November 2nd.


The important dates to remember are Wednesday, October 10 at 5PM for the meet and exchange of art pieces at the Museum.  The 2d important date is Tuesday, October 30th, at 5PM when the finished pieces are delivered to the Museum ready to be hung or displayed
